Patterns and Prints

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday and here at Chapel Hill that means today is the day for UNC football to take down USC! However, since that is supremely unlikely I’ll instead focus on my clothing choice for the day and how mixing patterns and prints makes for a fun and inspired outfit.

Mixing patterns and prints is a lot bigger in women’s fashion, mostly because there are just so many more pieces of clothing that play with interesting prints than in men’s fashion. But that doesn’t mean that guys can’t get in on this trend. Oftentimes when choosing to mix patterns or prints an outfit can come across as too loud or too busy, but in this case I paired a simple horizontally striped polo with some anchor embroidered shorts. The print of the shorts is just subtle enough so that it doesn’t fight the polo and therefore doesn’t imbalance the louder pattern and color of the polo. This allows for a nice harmony within the outfit, while still creating interest and expressing perfect summer style.
And of course I hardly go anywhere in the summer without a pair of sunglasses and usually my croakies, and as my croakies say, “Every day should feel this good!”
Oh, and GO HEELS!
