London Day 2: Fashion Week

I don’t even know where to begin this blog post. Wait, yes I do. LONDON IS AMAZING AND I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. If Day 1 wasn’t cool enough for you (yes I went to Stonehenge but maybe some people aren’t into ancient rocks) then hold on to your seats because day 2 is insane! I’ll start from the beginning. I woke up at a fairly reasonable hour, extremely well rested from the day before, and went to the lovely breakfast at my hotel. Once I ate the fantastic spread and was incredibly content I went back and changed into my outfit for London Fashion Week. And no you did not read that wrong. I said LONDON FASHION WEEK. As in the 3rd most important fashion week in the world (Naturally Paris and New York Fashion Week are 1 and 2)! So I got dressed in my edgy prep ensemble (I might be describing it as this now but so did many a fashion blogger who took my picture and told me they love what I was wearing) and made my way to go pick up my London Pass before I went to Fashion Week. And I’ll make a moderately long story pretty short. I met Amber Atherton from Made in Chelsea (essentially the British version of The Hills) and talked to her and took a selfie and it was just amazing! Who meets random celebrities on their way to Fashion Week it was legitimately insane. And from there I then made my way to Fashion Week at Somerset House.

This is what I saw when I arrived and before I started to mildly hyperventilate because I was freaking out from excitement.

This beautiful screen showed highlights of shows that had happened earlier in the day so that even if you didn’t have tickets you could still experience all of the genius of the designers and be inspired by all of their amazing collections!

New discovery for me: House of Holland. Big fan of what I saw. Especially after being in Copenhagen and everyone dressing in all black, their use of color and print made me smile just seeing it!

And of course at fashion week there is shopping you can partake in from the collections. Fur is something that I’m majorly into right now, unfortunately it’s much bigger in women’s fashion than men’s fashion but I still have such an appreciation for it.

And now for what we were all waiting for. The shows. On this day I got to witness the genius that is Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, and Alexander Wang. I’ve put pictures of a few of my favorite pieces from their shows in this blog post, I couldn’t put all of my favorites because this post may have never ended.

This piece is also from Alexander Wang’s collection. I was intrigued by his use of sheer both on the top and bottom, it formed an interesting pairing of sheer pants, along with a jumper/top that I hadn’t necessarily seen before.

You can never go wrong with black and not many people know that better than Oscar de la Renta. Loved the detailing, which is naturally hard to see when done in all black, on the top of this dress. Also, who doesn’t love a full tulle bottom to a dress?

FUR. It’s so in right now. Ugh could not get enough of it. Also, white on white. Another major trend for the season. Hard to pull off in everyday life but completely doable with the right pieces. Also Alexander Wang.

I was torn between whether or not I liked this piece because my first though was walking cupcake. But then I realized I like cupcakes. And I actually liked the layering of the piece as well as the consistent tones of one color than created a sort of color-blocking/transitioning effect. Oscar de la Renta by the way.

This dress is so Marchesa. It practically screams it. And I pretty much love it. The lace detailing looks amazing in black and the tulle that is added gives so much added dramatic effect. If I was a girl I would pretty much wear this all the time.

This is from the Alexander Wang collection. I really liked the details he incorporated into this dress and how high fashion, yet wearable it is.

This may be my favorite look. Ok it’s at least in my top 3 favorites. Why you might ask? Here are my reasons. 1. Fur. 2. Dip dyed fur. 3. Blue and white fur. 4. Alexander Wang made dip dyed fur look classy and not trashy. 5. Fur. I think you get the picture.

And now it’s back to Marchesa. This as well is so emblematic of the Marchesa design aesthetic and I love it probably more than the black dress I presented earlier. It uses tulle in a different way than the black dress does and it uses one of the hottest trend colors in the design. However, it does so in a way that doesn’t overpower the design of the dress and instead complements its various features.

And now for the showstopper. The Oscar de la Renta.

This dress is fantastic and such a classic Oscar de la Renta piece. Simple elegance, while still being strikingly beautiful. Red once again was a wildly used color this season and any woman who found herself in this dress would stop traffic. It is truly beautiful. The amount of craftsmanship that went into it, the way it moved on the runway, and the immaculate fit made this THE statement piece of the show! And with this last dress also comes the end of this post. The dinner and other activities I partook in this night were amazing but nothing can top Fashion Week. So I’m going to stop here.
