Hong Kong Fashion Week: Day Four

The last day session of Hong Kong Fashion week was actually a little more relaxed in terms of the number of shows, but since the entire exhibition space was opened up to the general public this meant that there were infinitely more people in attendance! Hong Kong is very much a fashion focused city and people scrambled to get into the grounds of Fashion Week so that they could see the latest trends on display and get a chance to make some sample sale purchases that a few designers exhibiting their wares were going to be doing during the last day!

However, the Audi Fashion Lounge and the runway shows still required you to have tickets to attend so I was very much still comfortable and got to see all of the days offerings just like the other days of the week!

The Fashion Lounge gave a sneak peek of what the rest of the day would have in store. Specifically, they showed some of the key pieces from the Shanghai Tang collection that would act as the closing show of the entire week! They did this so people who didn’t have tickets to the show, since it was extremely exclusive and invite only, would have a chance to see part of the collection!

Even though the Fashion Lounge still required tickets it was pretty packed since everyone came out to be a part of the last day of such a full week!

And after a few shows throughout the day and pop-up events in the Audi Fashion Lounge I went over to the Exhibition Center to see what the designers had to offer and what I could treat myself to! I discovered some truly amazing finds including a David Yurman bangle, a good amount of winter and summer scarves (one from Gucci for an AMAZING price), a fantastic Korean sunglasses company that uses the same producer as Ray-Ban but actually creates each pair so that they are one-of-a-kind, and this watch (which I was given since I did a mini photoshoot for them) from a brand called Light and Salt that is based in Shanghai! These watches too are made one-of-a-kind and I opted for the all black model since I was missing this from my collection! I also snagged a few other things for myself, friends, and family and came away with quite a good haul! Glad I was able to stop by on the last day since the number of shows was dramatically lessened during the day session so that the entire crew on hand could prep for the finale show!

Of course there was an ultra glamorous pre-show cocktail party hosted by Shanghai Tang before they showed their most recent collection. It was a magnificent party and I wish I had some pictures but I swear I can’t find them! But anyways, the show started and I was lucky enough to be sitting front row, right at the beginning of the runway for the biggest show of Hong Kong Fashion Week!

Shanghai Tang showed a mixture of ready-to-wear and formalwear for men and women. The overall show was a resounding success and it is obvious that this brand is continuing to make a major name for itself on the international stage as the best Asian high-fashion line!

Their menswear especially impressed me, and not only because I am inherently biased. I think that in their ready-to-wear collection they really did a fantastic job of adhering to their theme of mixing Eastern and Western influence to create clothing of the highest quality and chicest style!

I literally wanted to buy their entire collection! I loved it all and definitely am going to make a stop at the flagship store here in Hong Kong before I leave!

As I mentioned this show was a dual part show. The first half was the ready-to-wear collection, which was immediately followed by the high fashion evening wear collection.

The offerings for the ready-to-wear featured more pieces for men, while the evening wear was all about the newest gowns that Shanghai Tang has to offer.

The lighting for the evening wear portion was much edgier and more specialized with a single spotlight following each model down the entire runway.

The spotlight really drew a lot of attention to the meticulous detail that was placed into each gown, and since a fair number of the pieces were in all black this did make it easier to appreciate the detailing and craftsmanship of the dresses.

The show concluded and the models made for their finale walk. They were met with surging applause and an eventual standing ovation from an extremely impressed audience! This homegrown brand has made leaps and bounds both internationally and in terms of brand recognition over the past few years, and after witnessing this show it is clear to me that Shanghai Tang will continue to make these positive strides!

I was invited to take a photo at the end of the runway at the conclusion of the show and was more than happy to do so! I expressed my love for the collection to the designers and models I met from the show and am MASSIVELY grateful that I was able to attend and have such an amazing seat to soak in the entire experience!

And with that Hong Kong Fashion Week was officially over. Well at least the fashion shows were. Because now that the models were free and didn’t have to rest up for shows the next day they were ready to party! So I made my way to one last fashion week afterparty with some new friends, and got pumped to party the night away!
